But keep in mind that the people you're scolding were not necessarily brought up the way you were. Too many young American adults were brought up not having to earn anything, not having to get a summer job or do chores around the house. Their parents gave them all the toys they demanded, and told them they were special and entitled.

It's great that you were brought up with the right values (that's rare these days); just don't be too hard on those who don't know any better. Adjusting to accountability is proving to be quite painful for them, as crucial as it is for them to learn it. That's why they're reacting so violently to you.
